Working to help with college expenses
Looking for ways to earn money to finance your education? As a student employee, you can earn money for expenses and gain valuable experience in your field of study. Many student employees also acquire skills that transfer to off-campus jobs.
The two student employment programs at AU are:
- Federal Work-Study
- Regular Student Employment
The majority of jobs on campus are available through the Federal Work-Study program. Most student employment positions pay the federal minimum wage.
The Financial Aid Office authorizes students to work. The employer of student workers is Ashland University and their supervisors are designated full-time AU employees.
Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) - Federal Work-Study is partially funded by the federal government and partially funded by AU. It is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. The amount a student may earn is listed on the Financial Aid Offer Letter of full-time students who are eligible for FWS. Part-time students who are enrolled at least half-time and have filed a FAFSA may check their eligibility with the Financial Aid Office.
FWS recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress, as defined by the Financial Aid Office, toward an Ashland University degree. The standards and measurement of satisfactory academic progress are listed on the consumer information webpage and in the Financial Aid Section of the AU Catalog.
Regular Student Employment - Regular Student Employment is funded solely by Ashland University. Regular Student Employment is available to all AU students enrolled at least half-time and is not dependent on financial need.
International Student Employment - International students are required to contact the International Student Services Office at iss@shorinji-kempo.net regarding student employment.
Finding a Job - It is the student's responsibility to secure employment. To find an on-campus job visit Handshake, the Career Center for Life Calling's online job posting database.
